What happens if the Town does not pass an ordinance for a Decentralized Wastewater Management District or does nothing?
The Attorney General will still sue the Town of Thompson in order to enforce the 1994 consent order. This would not be a suit in which the terms were agreed upon (by stipulated judgment) and substantial penalties would be sought by the Attorney General’s Office and the DEP against the Town, payable by all taxpayers.
