What happens if the T-1 line goes down during storm or other event? How will calls get through and be dispatched for emergency services?
County Technicians are noticed via text and email as soon as their servers detect a T-1 outage. The County has conducted tests via low power base station radio from the Communications Center on February 3rd and were acknowledged by units in Fair Haven as loud and clear. As with other towns served by the County, a high powered base would be deployed with both Fair Haven channels at the center for a wireless back up in case the line goes down. This would allow the County and the Borough to continue to operate wirelessly. Should it be a base station failure on Borough equipment, the police units have the availability of County Car, Fire has the Fire ground, and EMS has EMS 1 and 3. Also, should Borough equipment be the source of the problem, the County stocks backup high power transmitters for deployment in the event of an equipment failure. The County could also deploy such backup transmitters programmed for Fair Haven at their Tower Hill location which houses current county channels.
