What happens if the patient has an emergency during the trip?
Fortunately, an occurrence like this is rare, because before a patient ever goes into an emergency condition our medical team is monitoring and adjusting her condition to manage a safe, steady transport. However, if an upset condition were to occur and we could not stabilize the patient, we would call the nearest tower and request an emergency landing. We would then call the office to coordinate an emergency ground ambulance. We would have rescue units on the ground, so when we landed, we could take the patient directly to the nearest hospital, and we would contact the family member or case worker immediately.
