What happens if the NMSN doesn specify the health plan to which it applies?
If the employee is enrolled in a plan, the child(ren) will be enrolled in the same plan. If the employee isn’t enrolled in a plan but is eligible for coverage under the employer’s plan that’s designated as default coverage for NMSN purposes, the employee and child(ren)will be enrolled in the default coverage. Default Coverage It’s the group health plan in which the child(ren) will be enrolled if the NMSN doesn’t specify a plan or the employee isn’t enrolled in coverage.
