What happens if the interns performance at work is unsatisfactory?
When it comes to performance, you should treat an intern in exactly the same way as you would any employee. An extra benefit of the internship scheme is that the University of Worcester will train you or one of your employees to act as a mentor to the intern and provide mentoring to the intern. The University has extensive experience in working with students and employers in ‘work based learning’ and ‘in practice’. We find that the golden triangle between the intern; the mentor/manager at work; and the University-based mentor is a big help in helping ensure effective performance in the vast majority of instances.
