What happens if the disease is detected in a pig herd in Queensland?
• Biosecurity Queensland will work with the owner to eradicate the disease from the piggery according to an agreed national response policy. • Strict biosecurity protocols will be applied to prevent the disease spreading to other pigs and farms with pigs, and also to humans working with the infected pigs. • The property will be placed under quarantine. • Any neighbouring farmers with pigs will be provided with biosecurity advice on how to keep the disease out of their herds.
