What happens if the da Vinci™ Surgical System (the “Robot”) mechanically fails during the surgery?

Don’t expect this to happen. If the da Vinci Surgical System mechanically fails, we will use one of two options: (1) if it is fairly early in the procedure and not beyond the critical point, the procedure will be halted and rescheduled; (2) if the surgery is beyond the critical point, we will proceed with either the laparoscopic or the open surgery (whichever is deemed best for the patient).
