What happens if the building loses power due to a fault or as part of scheduled maintenance?
As the Monash IP telephones are connected via the ITS data network and powered by the building power, in the event of power failure most phones will be unavailable. Some phones may still continue to work for a period of time. If an emergency situation occurs during or as part of a power failure staff are reminded to use the Campus Emergency Red Phones (CERP) to dial 333 or 000. Please note that a power failure is not an emergency in itself. For more information refer to the IP Telephony standards for emergency & life-line phones.
