WHAT HAPPENS IF THE ADJUSTING NUT’S CAP SCREWS ARE NOT PROPERLY TIGHTENED?

0

It is very important to properly tighten all four cap screws of the Wheel Boss adjusting nut. The cap screws provide the retention of the nut on the axle spindle. If the cap screws are not properly tightened the adjusting nut could back off, creating the possibility of a wheel-end assembly separation. If the adjusting nut’s cap screws are immediately tightened to the final torque without gradually tightening the cap screws in the recommended intervals the nut could plastically deform. Plastic deformation will permanently change the nut threads and the nut will not be reusable.
