What happens if the $995 million is raised before June 30, 2007?
A. If the $995 million is reached before the last quarter of the collection period, collection would have to stop. Legally, the amount of money raised cannot go beyond the amount stated in the resolution that called for the election. In the same light, if the $995 million has not been raised by June 30, 2007, the sales tax would expire short of its anticipated mark because the collection period cannot be extended beyond what voters approve in the referendum.
