What happens if phone lines were to go down as a result of Y2K issues? How would I communicate with Seattle City Light?
In the case of a widespread phone line outage as well as an electrical outage, City Light plans to communicate with its customers via radio. In our emergency planning protocol, we ask customers to tune to KIRO radio. As part of emergency preparedness, we suggest to customers that they invest in a battery-operated radio, remembering to keep fully charged batteries on hand. In the event of an emergency situation, City Light, other City departments and other public entities will work together to restore services and to keep Seattle safe. We will keep our customers and our public informed of contingencies.
