It is very rare, but occasionally flights do get diverted to alternate destinations. If the flight is diverted due to mechanical problems, the operator will arrange and pay for alternative flight or transportation costs. If the flight is diverted due to factors out of the operator’s control, such as weather, the operator will divert to the nearest available airport. If, in the pilot’s determination, there is little probability that the flight can reach the final destination, the flight will terminate at the alternate airport. All passengers will be responsible for their own accommodations and transportation to their final destination.
