What happens if my voting place is beyond the normal commuting distance from my office and a vote by absentee ballot is not permitted?
A – At the agency’s discretion, an employee may be granted sufficient excused absence (not to exceed 1 day) in order to be able to make the trip to the voting place to cast a ballot. When more than 1 day is required, a liberal policy should be observed in granting the necessary leave for voting. Time off in excess of 1 day will be charged to annual leave. If annual leave is exhausted, the absence will be charged to leave without pay.
