What happens if my student wants to move out of the residence hall and into a fraternity or sororitys chapter house?
Different chapters have different housing options. Several chapters rent houses from the university, several own their own houses right next to campus, a couple rent houses from private landlords, while there are several more who do not have recognized housing and just live within the residence hall. Otterbein policy is that no freshman may live in a Greek house and that sophomore’s can live in as long as sophomore’s don’t make up more than 50% of the house. This is to ensure there is continued leadership and guidance from the upperclassman. Students who choose to live in a Greek house will then pay their room and board to the chapter and not the University. These prices vary depending on chapter.
