What happens if I dont renew before the expiry date?
.com.au and other .au domain name licences are for 2 years only and must be renewed every 2 years. If a licence is not renewed, on the expiry date it will be undelegated. This means that the .au registry will remove your domain name from the .au Zone file. At this point your email and Website will be made inoperable. 14 days following this your domain name will be deleted from the .au registrys internal database and within 7 days thereafter it will be available for registration by another party. This means that you no longer control that brand. You will need to then submit a fresh application. Note:Should you renew your domain name prior to it being deleted, it will be automatically redelegated to the pre-existing name servers. Please be cautious of offers to manage the renewal of your domain name for more than 2 years and report this to auDA immediately.
