What happens if I don participate in Undergraduate Academic Program Review (UAPR)?
It may be easier to re-phrase this as “What happens if I do participate in UAPR?” If you DO participate, the information you glean can help you make decisions to improve your program. In addition, you gather evidence to show all sorts of decision-makers (accreditors, those who fund grants and budget allocations, parents, employers, students, legislators, donors, the citizens of North Carolina) that your program does what you say it does. And where it doesn’t, you can show the extent to which you are making improvements and the extent to which barriers may be preventing improvements. Participating in UAPR is a win-win situation-you get to learn more about your program, show off your accomplishments to others, and if there are any weaknesses, determine the best methods and resources needed to address them. Remember, the motivation behind UAPR, just like the motivation behind much of what we do in higher education, is our innate curiosity in discovering what works well. The information we
