What happens is that you needlessly increase your puppy’s chance of dying from a disease and/or passing a deadly disease on to other animals or people*. Depending on where you live, you may also be fined, jailed, or have your animal removed from your home. If you (a) can’t afford the vaccines, you should not take on the additional responsibility of a pet and you would serve your animal best by giving her to a responsible home, and (b) think vaccines are somehow harmful for you animal, you need to educate yourself beyond going to Yahoo Answers. You would be in violation of your state law that REQUIRES a rabies vaccination be given. You would also be a very irresponsible pet owner because you have left your dog at risk for contracting distemper, parvo, hepatitis and corona virus. Rabies is a dangerous disease, people still die from it in the US each year so you are not only endangering your dog, you place everyone else at risk should your pet catch it.

I live in the UK, so rabies is not required by law. I would avoid it, though, if I lived in the States, if I could, as it has a very high incidence of side-effects, one being aggression. If I couldn’t avoid it, I would leave it as late as possible…..I think six months old is when you would legally have to vaccinate for rabies? (Not sure of that, you would need to check your State laws.) We are seriously over-vaccinating our pets, and ourselves. Disease did not disappear because of vaccines…..to those that think that is the case…..stop believing what your government tells you, and do some reading on the subject. Btw, at 5 months old, your dog will already have built up its own immunity….and it will have done it as nature intended, through the nose. And not umpteen diseases at one time, straight
