What happens if I am convicted of multiple offenses in a short period of time?
If a driver is arrested for DUI three or more times in five years, he or she is labeled a habitual offender. The driver will have to pay thousands of dollars in fines, spend up to a year in prison, be forced to do community service hours, and have his or her license suspended for up to five years, with a mandatory breathalyzer device installed in his or her vehicle for the two years following the five year suspension.
