In 1999 voters approved additional operating funding also used to increase staff salaries and reduce class size. Each year inflation erodes the value of the 1999 funding. The $1.8 million in additional operating funding provided by Question 3A will be used to provide competitive salaries for our staff and maintain small class sizes in grades K-3. Without this funding, these two important district priorities are put at risk, and the district will have a difficult time attracting and retaining staff versus our neighboring school districts in our high cost-of-living area. Some facilities in the district were built prior to World War II. Many of those old school buildings do not meet current building codes, have site inadequacies, and do not meet current educational standards.
