What happens if derogatory information comes up in a background check?
If you find derogatory information in an applicant’s background check, you may have certain obligations to notify the applicant. See our Legal Links section for more information. In addition, when you order any of our Background Check Packages, we start immediately by running the SSN verification, drivers license checks and all criminal background checks. Occasionally, derogatory information turns up quickly enough that it doesnt make sense to complete further checking. If you order a Basic Plus, Extensive or Comprehensive Background Check Package and certain kinds of derogatory information come up, then we will immediately halt our process and confer with you. If you choose at that point to stop the background checks on that applicant, we will only charge you for our Basic Package, plus the individual price for the additional criminal checks that were conducted in the package that you ordered.
