What happens if a student is laid off?
The economic environment does not always allow students to work full-time with a particular employer. If the student is laid off because of a work shortage, every attempt will be made to arrange for another employer. If another placement is not immediately available, the student will return to school for further training until a placement if found. If a student is laid off because of failure to comply with employer rules and regulations, expectations or attitude problems, the student is given two weeks to find a new job/employer. If the student fails to find a job/employer, the student will be removed from the program. Depending on the circumstances, other educational arrangements will have to be made in consultation with the OYAP teacher, a guidance counsellor, and the principal.
