What happens if a student chooses not to purchase a notebook through the Lenovo Student Notebook Program?
The notebooks offered through the Lenovo Student Notebook Program will be very attractive to most incoming students. However, it is not our intention to monitor the purchase decisions made by our students. Here are some particulars for those considering a computer purchase outside the program. • Students who do not purchase a notebook through W&M’s program may still need to accomplish notebook-related assignments in the W&M courses taught by faculty members who choose to take advantage of the technology. It’s impossible to tell at this point just how extensive those assignments might be, but other schools with notebook requirements found that academic uses expanded pretty dramatically as the programs matured. • If you decide to purchase a computer from a different vendor be sure that you understand the vendor’s warranty and repair policies. Some warranties are very restrictive and may leave you without a computer for a long time if repairs are needed.
