The “Smart Chip” in the Juice™ Multi-Charger measures the internal resistance of each battery and determines if it safe to charge. In cases where a single-use Alkaline or Lithium battery is inadvertently placed in the charger, the “Smart Chip” recognizes the battery chemistry and does not allow charging to commence.
