What happens if a resident outlives his or her resources?
PHS seeks to work with residents and their families in every way possible to avoid a disruptive lifestyle change. This process begins before move-in, with a thorough financial assessment process and an open discussion of costs with residents and their families. Despite these measures, if a resident is at risk of depleting resources, he or she may be eligible to participate in the state of New Jersey’s Medicaid waiver program. If a resident finds that he or she is not eligible for supplemental help or Medicaid, we encourage that person to turn to family members for support.
