What Happens If a Registrant Doesn Register?
If a sex offender knowingly fails to register, change his or her address or fails to provide a change as directed is subject to the penalties under Criminal Procedure Article, ยง11-721, Annotated Code of Maryland. The law states that a registrant who knowingly fails to register, fails to provide notice of change of address, change of enrollment or employment at a Maryland Institution of Higher Education, or who knowingly provides false information may be found guilty of a misdemeanor and may be subject to imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to $5,000 or both.
