What happens if a patient is authorized for a CT of the abdomen, and the radiologist or rendering physician feels an additional study of the pelvis is needed?
A.17. The radiologist or rendering physician should proceed with the pelvic study. However, the radiologist or rendering physician must still call NIA after the study is provided to proceed with the normal review process and get an additional authorization number for the pelvic CT in order to receive payment.
