What happens if a dog never gets vaccinated?
I’ve had dogs that have had their vaccinations and I’ve had dogs that haven’t. The 2 I have now – one does, and one can’t as she has an allergy against something in the vaccination. Both my dogs are now 10, and are doing fine – with no complications from the one having had his vaccine booster every year and the other not. If you’d prefer to have the dog vaccinated, then if he is about a year old, then he should be fine. I wouldn’t say he’s too old. The initial vaccines (in the UK) is a 2 part jab – one now and the other in about 4 weeks, with a booster every year. If you intend to take him for walks in a public area – where other dogs are about, and thus giving him more exposure to possible viruses etc, then I would perhaps tend to lean more for getting him vaccinated to be on the safe side as it lends protection against parvo virus, distemper, leptosparosis (sp) etc. If you have a yard or acreage where he can run privately, then the chances of him picking up something from another dog
