What happens if a dog never gets vaccinated?

If you don’t give shots, the only thing that will happen is that if the dog is exposed to any type of virus, he has NO protection to fight it and will wind up very sick and could die.

If a dog is never vaccinated then they are at risk for catching some diseases/illnesses that can KILL them. Have the dog into the vet and let them know the situation you are dealing with. I am sure they will take care of everything.

I’ve had dogs that have had their vaccinations and I’ve had dogs that haven’t. The 2 I have now – one does, and one can’t as she has an allergy against something in the vaccination. Both my dogs are now 10, and are doing fine – with no complications from the one having had his vaccine booster every year and the other not. If you’d prefer to have the dog vaccinated, then if he is about a year old, then he should be fine. I wouldn’t say he’s too old. The initial vaccines (in the UK) is a 2 part jab – one now and the other in about 4 weeks, with a booster every year. If you intend to take him for walks in a public area – where other dogs are about, and thus giving him more exposure to possible viruses etc, then I would perhaps tend to lean more for getting him vaccinated to be on the safe side as it lends protection against parvo virus, distemper, leptosparosis (sp) etc. If you have a yard or acreage where he can run privately, then the chances of him picking up something from another dog

It’s always best to have your dog up to date on shots, even if the dog never leaves your property. Visitors (and even you) can track parvo into your home, exposing your dog without knowing it.

You can take the dog and have it vaccinated. If it has already had them it won’t hurt the dog.
