Once a complaint is received it is reviewed by the investigations division who can recommend that the allegations be dismissed, that they be investigated or that they be referred to the Attorney General’s office. If the investigation is opened, the doctor is notified and a response is requested. The complaint investigation is then presented to the Board. The Board can dismiss the case, impose sanctions against the doctor or refer it to the Attorney General’s office.
