What happens during the test at SHC?
During your first visit, you speak with a provider to assess your risk behaviors, explore your feelings and ask questions. Your provider will also discuss: • How HIV relates to you • Reducing your risk • Protecting the health of others • Talking to partner(s) and important people in your life about your results You will be asked to choose between a blood test and an oral swab test. Results will be available within two to five business days depending on which testing procedure you choose. You must return for a follow up visit in order to get your test results. HIV test results are not given over the phone.
