What Happens During The Breast Reduction Procedure?
Breast reduction is an inpatient surgical procedure that requires you to stay 2 nights at one of our partner hospitals. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, which puts you to sleep during the surgery. This “sleep” is different from regular sleep because it prevents you from feeling or responding to pain signals and anesthetizes your brain, stopping it from forming memories. Surgery can be a little rough on the body, so general anesthesia is a good way to help your body heal faster. There are various ways to perform breast reduction surgery and the operation usually takes 2 to 4 hours. Your surgeon will discuss which method is most appropriate for you and how your breasts will look like after breast reduction.
