What happens during severe weather such as a hurricane?
During a typical Florida thunderstorm – a common occurrence in the summer months – campers on site move to buildings such as the Pavilion to ride out the storm. Our staff is trained in seeking the best shelter options, no matter where the group is located. Throughout the summer months, we stay tuned into weather forecasts to help us know the latest storm information. In case of a tornado watch or warning, campers gather at Cedar Lodge, the lowest shelter point at camp. In case of an approaching hurricane in the surrounding area, camper parents are called and campers are picked up before the storm.
