What happens during a Mormon Sealing in the Temple?
Unlike traditional marriage ceremonies, Temple sealings are rather short and to the point. The bride and groom and guests go into a lavishly adorned room. The bride and groom kneel facing each other on an altar. The Sealer says a few words of advice and then seals them for time and eternity. That is the extent of the ceremony. After that they usually go outside and take pictures. No pictures are allowed inside the Temple. Nonmember parents are typically disappointed when they are not allowed to witness the ceremony, but certain standards of moral cleanliness must be observed to be worthy to enter into a Temple. Only members who are in good standing can enter the Temple. Every effort is made to keep the Temple a sacred place where the spirit of God can dwell unrestrained. The result is a truly spiritual experience for those that are worthy. I remember the first time I crossed the threshold of the Temple, entering a side door to do baptizms for the dead. I was 14 or 15 years old, and I w
