What happens between the winter solstice and when the earth reaches the closest distance to the sun?
During the winter Solstice the sun becomes perpendicular over the tropic of Capricorn, while when the earth reaches the closest distance to the sun this configuration changes and the sun becomes perpendicular to a point above the tropic of capricorn. So, my question is what happens between when the winter solstice begins, and when the earth reaches closest distance to the sun, which makes the sun no longer perpenicular to the tropic of Capricorn, but at a point above the tropic?Does the earth have a verical movement that cause this change in configuration?
