What happens at your first WIC appointment?
At mine they took all of my information (pay stubs, proof of address, etc) and put it all into the computer. Then, I had to fill out 2 surveys (stuff about what types of food I eat and how I typically cook them, and the other was about breastfeeding). Then, once I was approved, I had to watch a video about how to use WIC checks and WIC rules. Then, a lactation counselor came in to talk to me about breastfeeding. They gave me my checks, and that was it. **I am getting WIC while still being pregnant, since you are getting for your son then I assume they will skip the stuff about breastfeeding for you. **After reading other answers, I would like to edit mine. You will be able to go to any store that accepts WIC, you don’t have to pick just one. Don’t get a babysitter as you are required to have your children with you when you go. Nobody was rude to me at my appointment, and I was only there for 45 minutes. And for the guy who said to seek employment–WIC is not the same as welfare so quit
