What happens at the initial crisis assessment?
The focus of the assessment is on meeting you in your home environment, together with your significant others where appropriate, and building a therapeutic relationship together; explaining and experiencing the process; gathering relevant background information and identifying the events that have led to this crisis. It is an opportunity for the therapists to assess the best way that they can assist you to formulate coping strategies to alleviate the situation. It is a chance for you to ask questions and work together to formulate a plan to get you, and those around you, back on track as quickly as possible. It is our experience that most people feel some relief and less anxiety as a result of this initial appointment. Some clients may not be appropriate for the crisis resolution service and we would endeavour to signpost or involve other suitable agencies at this juncture.
