What happens at stairs / steps (risk of falling down)?

Stairs: The robot works with optical sensors that detect half-landings and signal the robot that it must change its direction. On occasion a very dark stripe on a rug may cause the unit to think it is at a stair and reverse. This cannot be avoided. If there is a risk of the unit falling down stairs, the optical sensors should be cleaned occasionally with a soft cloth to keep this system operating properly. Stairs should be kept clean of debris that may return a false “echo” and allow the robot to fall.
