What happens at Respite?
Experienced staff and volunteers give children loving attention and stimulation, engaging them in activities that help them grow and develop. Respite caregivers meet with families to help them set goals for themselves and their children, and to discuss ways to meet their goals. Parents join caregivers in observing their child s development, and understanding how they can support their child s growth. Respite also provides information about community resources, and links families to needed services. Who is the Caregiver? Respite caregivers have experience working with children and have been trained to provide quality childcare, infant care, child development, and play activities that promote growth and learning. Group Activities Group activities are also available at each Respite location for parents who want to attend outings with other parents, to talk story, participate in parenting activities, and in craft workshops.
