What happens at prenatal appointments?
At prenatal appointments I evaluate blood pressure, weight gain, urine, swelling, nutritional intake, pregnancy discomforts, and emotional well being. I will evaluate fetal heart rate, fetal movement, and fetal position. In addition, I will measure fundal height (your womb). At different times during your pregnancy, labwork may be performed, such as GBS testing, hemoglobin testing, glucose screening, and other laboratory screening tests. I will discuss your options with you before any test is performed. Rhogam is necessary for Rh- women. Rhogam is given as a shot (available by prescription). See: http://www.tnmidwives.org/pg.html for midwifery practice guidelines. I follow midwifery guidelines to ensure a high standard of care.
