What happens after the petition is completed and filed with the clerk?
• The clerk initiates a court case • The file is taken to the presiding Magistrate for review • The Magistrate makes a recommendation to the court to grant or deny the petition • If the person meets the criteria for the Baker Act, the judge signs an order granting the petition • Certified copies of the order are delivered to the Warrant’s Division of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
