What happens after the FDOT receives a request for a DOT number/new entrant registration?
The application is reviewed for accuracy and completeness. Make certain that the application includes a Federal Employer ID number or Social Security number, whichever is applicable to your business. If the application is not complete, it cannot be processed and will be returned. If the application indicates that you are an interstate carrier it will be forwarded to the FMCSA. The applicant for a DOT number (new entrant registration) can access the FMCSA website (www.fmcsa.dot.gov) to secure and/or complete the application package online. The application package will contain the following: • Educational and technical assistance material regarding the requirements of the FMCSRs and HMRs, if applicable. • Form MCS-150, which is the Motor Carrier Identification Report. • Form MCS-150A, which is the Safety Certification for Applications for U.S. DOT Number (interstate only). • Application forms to obtain operating authority under 49 CFR 365, as appropriate (interstate only). • Upon complet
