What happens after the braces are removed?
After the braces are removed, retainers will be made, and instruction will be given for full-time wear for the first 4 months. After that time, retainers usually need to be worn only at night for the next 6 to 8 months. Following this, they should be worn at least enough to maintain a comfortable, secure fit. This varies from person to person.
