What happens after the 5 year contract is up?

A. Physicians will be free to renew with Allscripts, eClinicalworks, or GE or to switch to another vendor of their choosing. After 5 years the provider owns the Allscripts software license and will have to recontract with Allscripts for ongoing operational costs (hosting, software maintenance, etc). The eClinicalworks license is perpetual, but the provider must annually renew for ongoing operational costs. For GE Centricity Enterprise, the provider will need to continue paying the full monthly costs as the ownership of software license will not pass to the provider.
