After you file a complete Special Permit application with the City Clerk, a date for the Public Hearing conducted by the Land Use Committee of the Board of Aldermen will be set within 65 days from the date of filing. Public Hearings are generally scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month. On the Friday before the scheduled Public Hearing, the Planning and Development Department will issue a memorandum on your development proposal. You should review this memorandum prior to the Public Hearing so that you can respond to any issues raised in the memorandum. At the Public Hearing, you or your representative present your development proposal, describe how the proposal satisfies the criteria for approval set out in the Zoning Ordinance, and answer any questions raised by the aldermen during the Hearing or in the Planning and Development Department’s memorandum.
