What happens after A Level results are published?
UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) immediately begin to compare results with offers made, and students will then receive letters of confirmation advising them whether or not they have been accepted by their firm and/or insurance choice universities. If you are accepted by your firm choice of university, you must either take up the place or withdraw from UCAS and reapply next year. You will not be eligible to enter Clearing. The same applies if you are accepted by your insurance choice but not by your firm choice. If neither of your choices can accept you, you can choose to enter Clearing, the process that enables students to apply for remaining places. You can also enter Clearing if you did not receive any offers following your original application; if you rejected any offers made; if you applied to UCAS after 30th June 2005 or if you have not yet made an application through UCAS. To enter Clearing, you will need a Clearing Entry Form (CEF). These are sent out automati
