What happened when Bill Gates left Microsoft?
To the best of my knowledge, he began his role change in 2008 when he left as chairman of Microsoft to devote his time to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. His loss was perceived as “symbolic” since he’d been downsizing his activities since 2006. So basically, the transition has taken place, smoothly, and Bill is now off to devote his energy to philanthropy. Hope this helps!
