Man killed in Gaston crash Police are still trying to determine what caused a head-on crash Friday night in Gaston County that killed a driver. The victim has been identified by police as Christopher Lee Canipe, 26, of Stanley. The wreck happened about 11:30 p.m. on N.C. 27 near Mariposa Road, at the northern edge of the Stanley city limits. According to police reports, a car driven by Canipe apparently collided with a tanker truck. The truck driver was hospitalized, but his injuries were described as non-life-threatening. There were no other people in either vehicle.
