What happened to the Roman Empire after Julius Caesars death?
They had another civil war while the strong men struggled for power-the initial power sharing Triumvirate (group of three) failed, leaving Marc Anthony up against Octavius (later Augustus). Marc Anthony tried to base his faction in Egypt to control the supply of food to Rome, hooked up with Cleopatra nad decided to fight at sea. Despite having a larger fleet and army, Octavius beat him at Actium. Cleopatra got cold feet and fled the battle, MArc Anthony followed her and his men lost heart. Octavius went on to become the first Emperor (Julius was officially Dictator for Life) and ruled Rome and the empire wisely and peacefully for many years.
