What Happened to the Original Superman Statue in Metropolis, IL?
When my husband and I were first moving to Metropolis, Illinois, we had a local realtor show us around the town. Being from a big city, I was a bit shell shocked about how small the town was. But nothing could have prepared me for when she said we were moving to the hometown of Superman. At first I thought, “Oh yeah, Metropolis is where Superman lived”. Then she told us that Metropolis, IL was actually the official hometown of Superman. She took us to Superman Square downtown (of course downtown is only one street, 2 blocks long) to show us the huge Superman statue.
