What happened to the NYTEST “high-enhanced” emissions inspection program?
The NYTEST high-enhanced emissions inspection program came to an end on December 31, 2010. Any non-exempt vehicle formerly subject to the high-enhanced emissions inspection is now subject to a low-enhanced emissions inspection using the NYVIP equipment. Vehicles that are subject to a heavy vehicle safety inspection will be exempt from the low-enhanced emissions inspection on and after January 1, 2011. Prior to that date, these vehicles were subject to the high-enhanced inspection. Therefore, not all vehicles that were subject to the high-enhanced inspection will be subject to the low-enhanced inspection.
