What Happened To The Nicholas II Of Russia And His Family?
There is a great deal of controversy about the death of Nicholas II of Russia and his family. Nicholas II ruled from 1894 until his forced abdication in 1917. He was married to Princess Alix who was the favourite grand-daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Nicholas and Alix had 5 children; his daughters were Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia and one son, Alexei who was a haemophiliac. After the forced abdication and the rise of the Bolsheviks, Nicholas II and his family were placed under strict house arrest and moved to Ekaterinburg. It is claimed that on the night of 16-17 July, Nicholas and his family along with their loyal physician and three servants, were taken to the basement of their house-prison where they were shot and buried in some nearby mines. However, it is not known whether this is true as two of the children’s bodies have never been found.
